Cation Fructan 1456
* PRODUCT NAME:
Cation Fructan 1456
* INCI NAME:
Fructooligosaccharides, Water, Fructose
* ORIGIN:
China
* INTRODUCTION:
• Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are naturally occurring oligosaccharides, also known as fructo-oligosaccharides.
• Cation Fructan 1456 is an ideal choice to meet the trend toward natural, mild, and silicone-free cosmetics. It features a unique mechanism of action:
+ Helps balance the scalp microbiome, forming a healthy protective barrier.
+ Optimizes 48-hour moisture retention, softens the hair, and comprehensively improves both wet and dry combability. Notably, it eliminates buildup that causes dryness and heaviness.
• Delivers soft, lightweight, and tangle-free hair while nourishing from root to tip.
* ADVANTAGES:
• Extracted from glycine and sucrose: mild, non-irritating, eco-friendly, suitable for sensitive skin.
• Acts as a prebiotic, supporting the natural microbiome by promoting beneficial bacteria (e.g., S. epidermidis) and inhibiting harmful ones (e.g., P. acnes, S. aureus).
• Improves both wet and dry combing.
• Maintains softness for up to 48 hours; hair remains manageable and frizz-free.
• Compatible with polyquaterniums (PQs), forming a thin protective film that smooths hair, reduces buildup, and maintains a voluminous, airy feel.
• Supports optimal formulation: reduces irritation, enhances foam, and maintains scalp-hair balance—providing superior product quality that keeps customers coming back.
* RECOMMENDED USAGE LEVELS:
• Shampoo, facial cleanser, and body wash: 0.3–2%
• Conditioner and skin cream: 1–10%
* SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH:
1. Anti-tangling and Smoothing Effects:
1.1 Wet combing force reduction
• Total work (J) required to comb wet hair:
+ Control: ~0.13 J
+ Cation Fructan 1456: ~0.05 J
→ Use of Cation Fructan 1456 reduces wet combing force by over half compared to the control, significantly improving smoothness and reducing tangling.
1.2 Anti-frizz effect
• Cation Fructan 1456 is positively charged, helping neutralize the hair’s negative charge to reduce frizz and enhance smoothness.
• Before saturation, it can be combined with PQ-10 and other polyquats to form a protective layer, giving hair a shiny and smooth finish.
• After saturation, electrostatic repulsion between molecules prevents buildup, keeping hair light and bouncy.
• Test results:
+ Cation Fructan 1456 + PQ-10 maintains wet hair condition better than TC-90 + PQ-10.
+ Cation Fructan 1456 + JK-140E significantly improves dry hair compared to TC-90 + JK-140E after 21 days of use.
2. Microbiome Balancing on Skin
• Cation Fructan 1456 supports the suppression of harmful bacteria and promotes skin microbiome balance, reducing inflammation and enhancing the skin barrier.
• Test on the effects of FOS on Staphylococcus epidermidis (beneficial) and Propionibacterium acnes (acne-causing):
→ The FOS group showed the highest growth of beneficial bacteria within 28 hours.
→ Compared to other prebiotics (GOS, IMO, Inulin, Glucose, and control), FOS significantly outperformed in promoting good bacteria.
• FOS also strongly inhibited biofilm formation (measured by OD₅₉₅) caused by acne bacteria.
→ FOS showed the lowest OD₅₉₅ value, indicating better efficacy in controlling biofilm formation compared to Inulin and IMO.
3. Enhanced Foam Thickness and Stability
• Initial foam height (foam volume peak): Formulations containing 1% (light blue) and 1.5% (yellow) Cationic Fructan 1456 produced more foam than the control (dark blue).
• Foam stability over time: Formulations with Cationic Fructan 1456 maintained foam longer, while the control’s foam decreased rapidly.
• Test results:
+ Incorporating Cationic Fructan 1456 into amino acid-based facial cleansers enhances foam volume and stability, improving foam retention.
